Rogier Vandeweghe - Vase - Signed Perignem with round enamel surfaces

The vase is in good, used condition. some chips of the standing ring are missing, and the painted circles sometimes show the colour of the earthenware through the paint were there is no glaze or the structure is a little more course. Otherwise, the circles with enamel are not damaged. Height 29 cm. Standing ring 9 cm and top 6 cm. Rogier left Perignem in 1955 and founded together with his wife Myranna Pyck (who was working as ceramics painter at Perignem since 1952) their own studio (ceramics and glass window company) to Sint-Andries (Brugge), where he made very subtle glaze. The studio of Rogier Vandeweghe started very small with two employees, namely a master glazer and a Jack of all trades. After the build of a modern villa with a large workspace their studio grew into a company with about 20 employees. In 1960 they named their company ‘Amphora'. The designs of Rogier received international recognition with a second prize at the Concorso Internazionale della Ceramica to Monza (Italy) in 1960 and a prize at the international Handwerkmesse in Munich in 1963. The ultimate culmination of his ceramic creations was in 1964 with a 'Medaglia d'Oro della Presidenza del Senato' at the Concorso Internazionale della Ceramica d'Arte in Faenza. In the 1960s Amphora was known for its refined vases with a graceful silhouette in which Rogier Vandeweghe completely found himself as an Aesthete. The orangy red bottle vases and round vases from the years 1963-1975 were imitated by many workshops in Flanders. Internazionale della Ceramica d'Arte in Faenza.
