The Alfa Romeo Matta or Alfa Romeo 1900M was a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle produced by the Italian car maker Alfa Romeo.
Just over 2,000 vehicles were produced between 1951 and 1954.
The Italian army was looking for an all-purpose vehicle in 1951 and ended up with Alfa Romeo.
Alfa developed a jeep-like vehicle based on their 1900.
The gearbox had four front gears and a reverse.
The gears could be used in high and low gearing with the installation of an extra reduction box. (4F1Rx2).
The vehicle had all-wheel drive (4x4).
The all-terrain vehicle was designated AR51 and had the nickname La Matta, Italian for the crazy.
A total of 2,012 units were supplied to the Italian army.
Alfa Romeo developed the AR52 civil version based on the AR51 which could be used as a light truck or as a fire engine.
A total of 154 units were built and delivered to various governments.
The Matta is in very good condition, both technically as well as the bodywork and the interior.
The engine was completely overhauled a few years ago and runs perfectly.
The brakes also work as they should.
Red leather seats with Alfa Romeo logo and roll bar with nice, red leather protection.
Including a custom-made black fabric top, in good condition.
A unique and very fun leisure car with very good features and in great condition. A true collector’s item!
